Cincinnati Interior Design department donates materials to Zero Landfill for Re-purposing

Posted on

Out with the old, in with the new!  Our Cincinnati Campus Interior Design department often gets calls from area designers generously wanting to pass along material samples to the students.  This helps us keep our on-campus resource library current with what is available for students to use on their projects.  We have so many new donations, that it was time to do some purging.  We're donating all our out of date materials to ZeroLandfill - an awesome program that helps re-purpose finish materials and keep them out of landfills.

Here are several photos of some new fabrics we've had donated to Zero Landfill.

Cincinnati campus supports Greater Cincinnati Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease® with Memory Wall

Posted on

Cincinnati campus Walk to End Alzeimer'sAntonelli College faculty and students participated in the 2014 Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising event in Cincinnati, Ohio. The event assisted the Alzheimer’s Association to raise funds for the advancement of research for curing Alzheimer’s disease.

Antonelli College-Cincinnati teamed up with Plaza Art Supply and the Cincinnati Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association to play a part in this year’s Greater Cincinnati/ Northern Kentucky Walk to End Alzheimer’s Disease®. Antonelli was invited to create a “Memory Wall” to be set up at the main entrance of the walk to encourage those participating to leave messages, memories, drawings, paintings, or photographs to commemorate loved ones currently struggling with the disease as well as those who have passed. Cincinnatians and Kentuckians alike turned out in droves to show their support for ending this terrible disease and many left their marks on the wall to show that their memories live on.

Both Antonelli College faculty and students representing nearly all programs attended to help with the installation and execution of the event. This year’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s surpassed its goal of reaching half a million dollars by raising over $518,000. The wall will be taken on tour by the Alzheimer’s Association to local nursing homes and fundraisers to collect more memories over the coming months with the hope of collecting funds for the advancement of research to finally find a cure.

The Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's® is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide and 5 locations in our region, this inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions. Antonelli College and Crowne Plaza Cincinnati North Form Partnership
Hospitality Arts students to earn professional experience through hands-on training

CINCINNATI – Antonelli College has established a partnership with the Crowne Plaza Cincinnati North providing Hospitality Arts students the opportunity to study in a cooperative learning environment beginning in the winter quarter. The partnership affords students access to facility leadership in addition to the theory based curriculum.

"I am very excited for this partnership; there is not a comparable classroom atmosphere that can replicate the opportunities the students will have while learning in an actual hotel environment," said department chair, Christa Eldridge. "This is the kind of 'real world' education that advances our students to a new level in both practical experience and professionalism."

Beginning Jan. 5, students will attend instructor-led lectures at the venue in addition to completing rotations alongside the hotel staff as a part of the lab curriculum requirements.

"We look forward to Antonelli College's Hospitality Arts students attending classes and engaging at the Crowne Plaza Cincinnati North. Our property will be a great resource as we encompass all aspects of the program; Food and Beverage to Meeting, Conference and Event Planning," said General Manager, Ted Hyle.

The Crowne Plaza Cincinnati North offers 257 guest rooms, over 15 thousand square feet of meeting space and an onsite restaurant. Additionally, the venue has earned an Excellent meeting planner designation by the Crowne Plaza corporate office.

The Antonelli College Hospitality Arts program offers coursework toward an Associate of Applied Business in Hospitality Arts. Specializations include Food and Beverage, Hotel and Lodging and Meeting Conference and Event Planning.
